Corbett Tiger Reserve

An internationally acclaimed eco-lodge far from any human habitation, Vanghat is nestled deep in the awe-inspiring Ramganga valley. Our four mud and stone bungalows have been exclusively crafted for wildlife enthusiasts, bird watchers and nature lovers. The envious location of the lodge affords long walks in the wild country and unexplored territories, the experience of which is enhanced by some of the finest and most experienced naturalists of this landscape. Keeping in mind the needs of the traveller, each cottage is designed with modern interiors to ensure maximum comfort. Each mud cottage has a spacious bedroom and attached toilet facilities.

A hike of 1.5 km gets the traveller on the banks of the Ramganga. From here a bamboo raft ferries you to remote Vanghat. Adventure at heart and average fitness is thus vital.

Jeep safaris are not be missed once you are at Vanghat and we also promote on-foot forest excursions or Walking Safaris as there is no better way to observe wildlife/ birdlife than on foot. However, if one is eager to explore Corbett please inform us well in advance. Bijrani and Jhirna Zones of Corbett Tiger Reserve are best explored from our lodge Tiger Camp situated closer to the entry points.

Each en suite cottage can accommodate two or three guests and has a veranda surrounding three-quarters of the building from which to relax and watch the wildlife in our grounds. They have been constructed with locally sourced clay, savanna thatch and wood inspired by traditional Vangujjar tribal style and is of low environmental impact. Refreshingly simple, our dedication to making as small a footprint as possible is such that the cottages are raised off the ground to let reptiles and other wildlife pass unimpeded and are equipped with energy efficient fans instead of air conditioning and RO filtered drinking water instead of bottled. The toiletries provided are chosen specifically to be organic and safely biodegradable.

Our chef is an expert in local wholesome dishes, as well as a range of Indian and local specialties and continental fare. Ingredients are mostly locally sourced. We are happy to accommodated special dietary requests with prior notice.

Walking safaris, birding and fishing - can occur throughout the day, all accompanied by our local guides; stroll to vantage points near the lodge; swim in the Ramnagar river; and village walks.
