Jungle Travels India

JTI is a family-owned company specialising in carefully crafted, small group tours and bespoke holidays to India, Bhutan and Nepal.  Started in 1989 as a destination specialist of Northeastern India, JTI has grown to the award winning company it is today offering tasteful tours in selected areas of India, Bhutan and Nepal.  Recognised for good service and word-of-mouth recommended tours, JTI is also known for its award-winning products – the superbly appointed Diphlu River Lodge in Assam, and its pioneering long-distance river cruises on the Ganges, Hugli and Brahmaputra rivers.  As a testament to our passion for these destinations, JTI was awarded the National Tourism Award and was runner-up of the Sanctuary TOFTigers Wildlife Promotion Company of the Year 2014.

Started by husband-wife traveller, duo Ashish and Nanhabi Phookan over 25 years ago in a tiny back-room with nothing more than a telephone, a thick index of flights, solid destination knowledge and sheer passion for what we do, JTI now has offices in New Delhi, Kolkata and Cochin and works closely with our selected partners in Bhutan and Nepal.  Our sister company, Assam Bengal Navigation, an Indo-British joint venture with offices in India and the UK, pioneered long-distance Indian river cruising in 2003.  For this, we were awarded another National Tourism Award in 2005 and the Brahmaputra cruises were recognized by CNN International amongst the top 10 Most Adventurous Cruises in the World for 2013.   Our jungle lodge, Diphlu River Lodge was judged the 2nd best wildlife lodge in India by Lonely Planet Magazine.

Responsible Travel

Jungle Travels India is conscious of its responsibilities towards the conservation of nature and part of our commitment is to screen and market responsible holidays. The other part of our commitment is to campaign for change in the tourism industry. We aim to help re-invent the tourism industry for the long-term benefit of local people, the environment, tourists and the tourism industry. The entire premise of our business is to market and distribute more responsible holidays, thereby creating more jobs and income for local people, and increased benefits for conservation, whilst at the same time minimising negative impacts on local environments and cultures.
