Investments: What is the aim?

TOFT believes that responsible tourism can play a vital part in restoring natural habitat in India and therefore we aim to encourage private eco entrepreneurs and companies with a background in quality and responsible wilderness tourism to invest in India’s forests, not just in the provision of accommodation in these areas.

With an estimated 200000 to 300000 square kms of forest still capable of sustaining Tigers, which means the potential of sustaining a population of between 15000 to 30000 wild tigers, and a 15% per annum growth in tourism into parks from a target domestic market of 300 million alone, even before the International tourism rise, the demand for quality wildlife and leisure activities within wilderness areas in India is certain to continue.

We would encourage and endorse a private/public/community partnership investment strategy, that not only safeguards the natural habitat but also provides for employment and actively supports village communities that will be affected by such enterprises and the restoration of habitat in a particular region.

We aim to encourage such investment, offer advice, and seek and support proposals for a variety of forested landscapes, that can include parcels of land adjoining National Parks and Sanctuaries within buffer areas or Joint Forest Managed wildlife corridors, all being vital to sustaining the long term future of the remaining forests of India.

This is still a pioneering new potential area of investment so should you like to talk through any proposals please do contact us.
