TOFT India Seminar Panel

TOFT arranged a seminar panel at India, SATTE Travel Mart, with the title of ‘Wildlife tourism. Whose responsibility is it anyway?’  More info here

Dr Latika Nath, Amit Sankhala and Asit Biswas, alongside the panel chair Julian Matthews, discussed the question to a small audience at the recent Travel Mart in New Delhi.

There was consensus that wildlife tourism is everyone’s responsibility, those who manage it, those who deliver it and those who are affected by it. There was also consensus that its needs to do more to support local communities bordering parks, to turn them from victims to wildlife guardians. There was also a call for greater partnership and participation between tourism and the Forest Departments, to build common consensus and better decision making.
