Professor Stewart Thompson


Stewart Thompson is a practising conservation professional for over 25 years and a Trustee of TOFTigers. He is also Professor in Biodiversity Conservation at Oxford Brookes University’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Throughout his career, he has initiated and delivered a variety of applied conservation management projects, all of which he has endeavoured to translate into practical tools for conservation practitioners. His conservation focus overseas include the wildlife conservancies of the Mara in Kenya, and the Tiger reserves of India. He is frequently consulted by government bodies responsible for biodiversity management and non-governmental organisations involved in the delivery of biodiversity strategies. He is also associated with the International Association of Landscape Ecologists and The Environment Bank.
