Gujarat Guide Training Programme: Building Skills, Inspiring Stewardship
This September, the Little Rann of Kutch will be more than just a breathtaking landscape of salt flats and golden grasslands. It will be a classroom, a meeting ground, and a source of inspiration. For three days, guides, naturalists, and passionate storytellers will come together in Dasada for the Gujarat Guide Training Programme – a hands-on, heart-led learning experience designed to sharpen guiding skills and strengthen the spirit of conservation in Gujarat.
Organised by Travel Inn (India) Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with Rann Riders, TOFT, and the Indian School of Nature, this three-day programme will blend field immersion, classroom learning, and hands-on practice to shape the next generation of skilled, ethical nature guides. Participants will hear inspiring stories from industry leaders, explore traveller expectations with ecologist Aniruddh Chaoji, and build communication skills with Mugdha Deshpande. They will join a night walk with herpetologist Varad Giri, learn plant ecology from botanist Santosh Yadav, master interpretation with Anurag Yadav, and dive into sustainability with Ritu Makhija and RP Singh. Practical sessions will cover field guide use, first aid, guest safety, digital tools, and photography etiquette. The final day’s simulated walks will put new skills to the test, ending with a certificate ceremony and the lasting reward of pride, purpose, and a renewed commitment to protecting Gujarat’s wild heritage.
Guides are the bridge between people and the wild. Their words, ethics, and enthusiasm can turn a simple outing into a life-changing experience. By investing in their skills, the Gujarat Guide Training Programme helps ensure that every visitor to Gujarat leaves not only with great photos, but also with a deeper respect for the land and its life.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of Gujarat Tourism Department in this initiative.
This is more than a training, it’s a step towards tourism that gives back.
