Spread over 7 acres of unbridled wilderness, the Waghoba Eco Lodge is charmingly nestled inside the buffer zone of the magnificent Tadoba Tiger Reserve. This is the 7th lodge in the Pugdundee Safaris franchise and advances their sincere commitment towards sustainable tourism. Committed to green architecture, the lodge buildings are constructed with handmade adobe earth bricks and the vaulted ceilings are made from handmade conical tiles. The construction materials are primarily procured from the neighboring areas, to keep the carbon footprint to a bare minimum. The lodge management implements sustainability through conscious daily practices such as groundwater recharge, Phytroid sewage treatment plant, rainwater harvesting, rewilding the land with native species, energy-efficient cooling, waste segregation wildlife conservation and many others. In Waghoba, the outdoors takes cen...ter stage and the guests are immersed in a unique wildlife experience which educates and inculcates a love for the glorious abounding nature.
  • The Jeep Safaris offer the unforgettable thrill of traversing the forests while taking in the smells and sounds of the pristine flora and fauna. Nature walks along recognized walking trails often lead to wonderful sightings. The night safari is another indescribable experience to see wildlife in its nighttime glory. In-house experienced naturalists are available on prior bookings to elevate the guest experience For birdwatchers and photographers, the lodge organizes boat tours in the Irai Lake backwaters and cycling tours on trail bikes down protected jungle paths. The Log Hut Stay is another exciting experience. Guests get to spend the night in simple log huts, built over guard checkpoints in the heart of tiger country, immersed in the untamed charms of the forest. The lodge naturalists hold daily interactions and presentations on wildlife conservation and sustainability for the guests. A well-stocked nature library provides a storehouse of wildlife information.
  • The 14 charming cottages are outfitted with all modern amenities while retaining their verdant charm. The large airy rooms, come with sizeable bathrooms and even a private deck. Sustainable eco-construction is the principle behind the meticulously planned lodge structures. While providing a luxe, rustic look, the clever construction brings down the interior temperature to ensure a comfortable stay and also minimizes the use of electricity. Other common facilities include a shaded swimming pool, a well-stocked nature library, and a breezy lounge. A cleverly constructed Bird Hide serves as a viewing enclosure for wildlife birdwatchers and photographers to observe birds in their natural environment.
  • The food menu, masterfully crafted by Chef Mugdha, and Chef Michael Swamy seeks to carry forward the legacy of authentic regional food traditions. The popular Vidarbha thali showcases the famous Saoji curries, the Maharashtrian thali headlines the uniquely piquant Marathi spices, and the Hyderabadi thali celebrates its next-door neighbor. Most of the produce is local, fresh, seasonal, and sustainably sourced. Dietary restrictions and special requests are accommodated upon prior request. Fruits and vegetables are grown in the vibrant kitchen garden and 2 varieties of Mushrooms are grown in mushroom huts made of straw, grass and bamboo. The staff is mostly local, which ensures employment opportunities and economic prosperity in the vicinity.
