The wealth of Karnataka, India: the destination that broke my clichés
Where every natural or cultural landscape is in ON mode of emotions
Why did you start this journey?:
This morning, I read in newspapers, on TV, or on the radio about hundreds of conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine, the crisis in Sudan, the violence in Syria, the Israel-Gaza conflict, the instability in Yemen, the tensions in North Korea, the displacement in the Congo, the disputes in Myanmar, the economic and political crisis, uncertainty, and so on—all of which fill the daily headlines. This constant barrage of news about conflicts and crises is overwhelming.
And I feel the need to escape, to disconnect from this reality. I want to travel to a peaceful place, where I can unwind and experience a completely different environment, far from the chaos and uncertainty that dominate today’s everyday world, replacing it with a different kind of chaos, but one that’s natural and welcoming.
Where?
This undoubtedly leads me to India, to Karnataka, where Nature and Culture have created an environment that intoxicates and escapes while helping us understand the power of the Earth, which inspires us.
Karnataka is a southern Indian state captivating with its history and architecture. Hassan, the city of Shravanabelagola, is home to the imposing Gomateshwara statue, one of the largest monolithic sculptures in the world and an important Jain center. Nearby, in Belur, the Chennakesava Temple dazzles with its intricate reliefs that tell epic stories.
